Monday 12th July 2027, 12:00pm Mayburgh Henge

At midday on the fourth day before the Ides of July we will stand in the enclosing arms of Mayburgh Henge by the one remaining standing stone and dream of the day 1100 years before when the Kings stood here.

The Lord Lieutenants from the five kingdoms will represent their long gone kings and the magic of technology will conjure voices from the air and a thousand twangling instruments to hum about our ears.

Part of our

12th July Ceremony series

The fourth day before the Ides of July in 927 is the day noted in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle. Monday 12th July 2027 is exactly 1100 years later. This is a day for a quiet reflection on the original Meeting and looking back along the road of time that has brought us to 'Now'.

There will be a ceremony at Mayburgh Henge at midday where representatives of the five kingdoms can gather again. And then a church service at St Andrew’s Dacre, as that is where the original monastery once stood and where the Kings would have listened to God.
