The Quilters Guild brings together quilters and stitchers from across the British Isles, and beyond! United by a shared passion for patchwork, quilting and all associated textiles, we celebrate these wonderful crafts, preserving their rich heritage and inspiring and supporting all with an interest in anything stitchy.

Here in Region 15W, we welcome members from across Cumbria. Although we cover a large geographical area, our community is close-knit, friendly and wonderfully diverse, with a wealth of skills, styles and experience. We are also proud to have several smaller quilting and stitching groups across the county that meet regularly.

As part of the 927AD celebrations, we are delighted to be partnering on the creation of a commemorative textile quilt marking the birth of England. The finished piece will capture the unique sense of place surrounding this historic event, featuring elements such as the two rivers at Eamont Bridge, where the meeting is believed to have taken place, alongside artefacts like the distinctive hogback stones that reflect the period.

While Region 15W of the Quilters Guild is coordinating the project, the quilt itself will be a true community creation, made by quilters and stitchers from across Cumbria. Whatever your age or experience, we’d love you to be part of this special project, let’s celebrate the birthplace of England with needle, thread and fabric!
