Our Heritage

Where Kings Gathered, we recreate the legacy

In 927 AD, King Æthelstan convened a gathering of kings at the River Eamont near Penrith. Five kings from Wessex, West Wales, Alba, Strathclyde and Northumbria and a meeting that led to the first political unification of the English-speaking kingdoms.

We see the faint echos in the landscape but now 1100 years later we create new artworks, footpaths and history trails that will keep the legacy shining bright.

Making our own history.

Story in Landscape

From the ancient stones of Mayburgh Henge by the gentle meanders of the River Eamont to the busy M6, railway and A66 this landscape is a living chronicle of thousands of years of history.

Walk the paths that kings once trod. And hear, as they did, the faint footsteps of the marching legions and see the shadows of the Bronze Age peoples.
