Buzzing in Brougham

Brougham is set to be one of the main focal points for events celebrating Eamont 927 over the weekend of 10th and 11th July 2027.

The Hall will host a re-enactment provided by The Birth of England. An Exhibition of The Eamont Tapestry will be in St Wilfrid’s, which when completed will be permanently exhibited in this chapel.

In addition, Brougham Parish Council and partners are developing Countryside 927. This will be a marquee exhibition showcasing what the countryside and landscape might have looked like in 927, with displays and information reflecting the themes depicted in the Tapestry.

We hope to involve local schools and youth organisations in creating the exhibition, alongside organisations such as the Eden Rivers Trust, Penrith Red Squirrels, Woodland Trust and Rare Breeds Survival Trust.

There will also be live examples of some of the animals that would have been associated with the landscape, in the field below the chapel, including Fell ponies, Highland cattle and Herdwick sheep. Together, the animals and exhibition will help bring to life the landscape, wildlife and farming of 927 and reflect the imagery shown in the Tapestry.

We Need Your Help

This project can only be a success with the involvement and support of our local community. We are therefore asking anyone who would like to help, in any way, to get in touch with us.

The sooner you can let us know, the better. There will be many different ways to get involved, whether helping with the project during the year, contributing ideas and expertise, supporting the exhibition, or volunteering over the event weekend itself.

If you would like to be involved in making Eamont 927 at Brougham a memorable celebration for our community, please get in touch.
